Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned as US Labour Secretary, becoming the third member of President Donald Trump’s cabinet to leave within two months amid controversies during his second term.

White House communications chief Steven Cheung announced her departure on social media, saying Chavez-DeRemer would move to the private sector.

He added that Deputy Labour Secretary Keith Sonderling will serve as acting Labour Secretary.

Chavez-DeRemer had faced allegations including undertaking personal foreign trips allegedly presented as official tours.

She is the third woman cabinet official to exit recently, following Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
