In Nepal, the government was toppled in 2025 due to a massive protest by the ‘Gen Z’ youth. Following this, general elections were held in Nepal. The counting of votes in this general election is currently underway. In this, reports are coming out that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) led by Rabi Lamichhane is expected to win a historic victory and form the government.

With a total of 275 seats in Nepal, the party is expected to reach 138 seats required for a simple majority. It is noteworthy that Nepal is about to form a majority government after 27 years. In this regard, pop singer Balendra Shah, who was the mayor of Kathmandu Corporation, is contesting from Jhapa-5 constituency with the RSP party and is leading.

This is said to make Balendra Shah the youngest Prime Minister of Nepal. The RSP party received 56 to 59 percent of the votes due to the large support of the youth. The party executives have explained that this election has created a new change in Nepali politics.
