Veteran politician N. Rangasamy on Wednesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the fifth time, marking another term for the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC)-led NDA government in the Union Territory.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by K. Kailashnathan during the swearing-in ceremony.

Along with Rangasamy, two cabinet colleagues were also inducted into the ministry. Malladi Krishna Rao from the regional party and A. Namassivayam of the Bharatiya Janata Party took oath as ministers in the new government.

Rangasamy took oath in the name of God, while Krishna Rao delivered his oath in Telugu. Rao represents Yanam, the Puducherry enclave located within Andhra Pradesh.

Rangasamy remains one of Puducherry’s most influential political figures and has led the Union Territory multiple times since first becoming Chief Minister in 2001.
