Mamata Banerjee on Sunday led a padyatra in her Bhabanipur Assembly constituency in south Kolkata as campaigning entered its final phase.

She was accompanied by thousands of All India Trinamool Congress supporters during the public march.

Amid the playing of the campaign song Jotoi Koro Hamla Abar Jitbe Bangla (No matter how much you attack, Bengal will triumph), Banerjee interacted with residents along a one-kilometre route from Lansdown Crossing to Kalighat Fire Services Station.

As supporters chanted “Didi Didi”, she shook hands, accepted garlands, and greeted people lining both sides of the road.

Banerjee was also seen asking security personnel not to remove people who approached to touch her feet.

The colourful roadshow featured traditional Dhak beats and the traditional Chhau dance of Purulia.

The padyatra reflects the high-intensity campaigning underway ahead of the next phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
