Jitendra Singh Alwar Resigns as AICC In-Charge of Assam After Poll Defeat
Congress leader takes responsibility for disappointing election results
Senior Congress leader Jitendra Singh Alwar has resigned from his position as General Secretary In-Charge of Assam, taking responsibility for the party’s poor performance in the recent Assembly elections.
In a message addressed to Mallikarjun Kharge, he said the results were “deeply disappointing” and acknowledged that the party failed to meet the expectations of the people of Assam.
Alwar stated that despite their efforts, the outcome did not reflect the party’s aspirations, prompting him to step down with immediate effect.
The resignation comes in the wake of a strong victory by the BJP-led NDA in Assam, marking a setback for the Congress and its allies.
The development signals internal accountability within the party as it reviews its electoral strategy following the defeat.
