Harivansh has been elected unopposed as the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha for a third consecutive term. The motion for his election was moved by Leader of the House J. P. Nadda after the post fell vacant following the completion of his previous term earlier this month.

Speaking after his re-election, Harivansh said healthy debate and differences are integral to democracy, but disruption has no place in parliamentary functioning. He assured members that he would uphold the dignity of the House and protect the rights of all members.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Harivansh, praising his experience, wisdom, and contribution in making the functioning of the House more mature and constructive. Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge also extended congratulations and expressed hope that opposition voices would receive adequate time in the House.
