Governor Arlekar Administers Oath to New Tamil Nadu CM Vijay
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administers oath to TVK chief at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
C Joseph Vijay was officially sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu during a grand ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.
The oath of office was administered by Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in the presence of senior political leaders, party workers, film personalities, and thousands of supporters.
Vijay heads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, popularly known as TVK, which secured a landmark electoral victory in the state assembly elections.
The swearing-in marks a major turning point in Tamil Nadu politics, as TVK became the first non-Dravidian party in decades to form a government in the state, ending the long-standing dominance of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
Massive crowds gathered around the venue from early morning, with supporters celebrating Vijay’s transition from cinema superstar to state leader. Security arrangements across Chennai were heightened to manage the large turnout and ensure smooth conduct of the ceremony.
The event drew nationwide attention, with congratulatory messages pouring in from political leaders, celebrities, and supporters across the country.
