The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered repolling in 15 polling stations across South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal after declaring the April 29 voting in these booths void.

The affected polling stations are located in the Magrahat Paschim and Diamond Harbour assembly segments. Fresh polling will be conducted on May 2 between 7 AM and 6 PM, as per the ECI directive.

The decision follows reports of irregularities during the polling process, prompting authorities to nullify the earlier voting to ensure free and fair elections.

Election officials are expected to put in place enhanced security and monitoring measures at the identified booths to prevent any untoward incidents during the repoll.

The move underscores the Commission’s commitment to maintaining electoral integrity amid heightened political scrutiny in the state.
