The Election Commission of India has categorically dismissed as “baseless and false” the allegations made by Mamata Banerjee regarding irregularities in vote counting in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency.

In an official statement, the District Election Officer (DEO) of South Kolkata clarified that the entire counting process was conducted strictly in accordance with the Commission’s established rules and regulations. The report emphasized that the process was free, fair, and transparent, with every stage carried out under close supervision and full legal compliance.

The Commission also rejected claims that CCTV cameras were switched off during counting. Officials confirmed that surveillance systems remained fully operational throughout the process, ensuring continuous monitoring.

Reaffirming its commitment to electoral integrity, the Commission stated that all procedures were followed meticulously, leaving no room for discrepancies in the counting exercise.
