Delhi CEO Begins Consultations on Electoral Roll Revision Exercise

The Chief Electoral Officer Delhi (CEO) on Tuesday held the first meeting with representatives of various political parties after announcing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the national capital.

The exercise is scheduled to be rolled out from June 30 and aims to update and verify electoral rolls ahead of future elections.

The meeting was attended by representatives from major political parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Communist Party of India (Marxist), along with officials from the election department.

Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar and senior poll officials interacted with the party representatives during the session.

According to officials, political parties were briefed about the entire revision process, including procedures related to voter verification, inclusion of eligible voters, correction of entries, and deletion of ineligible names from the electoral rolls.

Representatives of political parties also raised queries and provided feedback regarding the implementation of the exercise. Election officials clarified procedural aspects and answered questions during the discussion.

An officer from the CEO office said political parties assured full cooperation to ensure the smooth and successful completion of the revision exercise in Delhi.

The Special Intensive Revision process is considered an important electoral exercise aimed at maintaining accurate and updated voter lists, which are essential for free and fair elections.

Election authorities are expected to carry out awareness campaigns and field-level verification activities in the coming weeks as preparations for the roll-out continue.
