Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, has written a letter to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressing “deep concern and grave anxiety” over what he described as the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

In the letter, Patnaik referred to reports regarding an incident in Tigiria Block under the Athagarh Assembly constituency, where MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain was allegedly blocked, intimidated, and physically prevented from attending the Tigiria Panchayat Samiti meeting on May 22.

Patnaik alleged that the MLA was obstructed by “BJP-backed miscreants” and urged the Chief Minister to intervene immediately. He requested stringent action against those responsible and called for adequate measures to ensure the safety and security of all citizens in Odisha.

The letter reflects escalating political tensions in the state between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

The incident has triggered political reactions and renewed debate over governance and law-and-order management in Odisha. No official response from the state government regarding the allegations had been reported at the time of filing this report.
