Congress Warns of May 7 Blockade if Farmers’ Problems Remain Unresolved
The Opposition Indian National Congress on Tuesday accused the BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh and at the Centre of doing injustice to farmers and ignoring the concerns of cultivators.
Jitu Patwari said that despite Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hailing from Madhya Pradesh, farmers in the state continue to face severe difficulties.
He warned that if the alleged injustice against farmers is not stopped immediately, the Congress would join cultivators in staging a blockade of the Agra-Mumbai National Highway on May 7.
The statement signals an escalation in political pressure over agrarian issues in the state, with the party seeking to mobilise farmer support ahead of the planned protest.
