UP Police Stop SP Delegation En Route to Meet Protesting Noida Workers
Uttar Pradesh Police stopped a 10-member delegation of the Samajwadi Party at the DND Flyway in Noida as the group was heading to meet protesting factory workers. The delegation was led by Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Mata Prasad Pandey.
Reacting to the police action, Pandey alleged that injustice had been done to workers who were protesting over non-payment of full wages. He claimed that the administration failed to address their grievances in time and criticised the government for allegedly resorting to a lathi charge after the situation escalated. He also said labour officials should have intervened earlier to resolve the workers’ issues.
