Railway Board Announces Investigation After Train Blaze

The West Central Railway (WCR) has formed a high administrative grade-level inquiry committee to investigate the fire incident involving the Thiruvananthapuram–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express on Sunday.

According to railway officials, the fire broke out at around 5:15 am in the B-1 passenger coach of the train between Vikramgarh Alot and Lunirichha under the Kota Railway division.

The incident occurred nearly one-and-a-half hours after the train departed from Ratlam Junction in Madhya Pradesh.

Officials said the fire not only damaged the B-1 passenger coach but also affected the luggage brake and generator car attached behind it.

A press note issued by the Railway Board stated that the inquiry committee was constituted by the General Manager of West Central Railway.

The panel includes senior officers from West Central Railway, the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, and the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO).

Railway authorities had earlier confirmed that all passengers from the affected coach were safely evacuated and no injuries or casualties were reported.

The committee is expected to examine the technical and operational aspects of the incident and determine the cause of the fire.

Indian Railways has also initiated restoration and safety review measures following the incident.
