The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that additional metro train trips will be introduced from tomorrow to encourage commuters to prefer public transport over private vehicles.

According to the DMRC, the move has been taken considering the important role of public transportation in promoting energy efficiency, economic viability, and environmental sustainability under the current circumstances.

The corporation said that 24 additional train trips will be operated every Monday with the deployment of six extra trains across the network.

Officials added that additional services may also be introduced on other days depending on commuter demand and operational requirements.

The expansion in services is aimed at ensuring smoother passenger movement and maintaining seamless metro operations amid rising commuter footfall in the national capital.

The Delhi Metro is one of the country’s largest urban rapid transit systems and serves millions of passengers daily across New Delhi and the National Capital Region.
