BOKARO/GANGTOK: The industrial city of Bokaro is celebrating a new “crorepati” today as Mahendra Kumar Somani was officially named the grand prize winner of the Sikkim State Dear Supreme Thursday Weekly Lottery. In a dramatic turn of events during the evening draw on February 19, 2026, Somani’s ticket emerged as the sole winner of the ₹1 Crore top prize.

The win has transformed an ordinary Thursday into a historic milestone for the Somani family, proving that the reach of the Sikkim State Lottery continues to create success stories across the mineral-rich belt of Jharkhand.

The draw, which is conducted with high transparency at the Directorate of Sikkim State Lotteries in Gangtok, took place at the scheduled time of 6:00 PM. The winning ticket, bearing the number 87C 90567, was announced as the recipient of the first prize.

Mahendra Kumar Somani, a resident of Bokaro, had purchased the ticket as part of a regular interest in state-regulated paper lotteries. Upon the announcement, Somani expressed a sense of disbelief followed by immense joy. “This is a blessing for my family. We have worked hard all our lives, and this win provides a security that we only dreamed of,” he shared with local reporters.

Bokaro, known for its steel plant and educational hubs, has seen a steady rise in participation in state-run lotteries. For many, these draws represent a legitimate, regulated opportunity for financial mobility. The win of a local resident like Somani is expected to boost interest in the “Dear” lottery series in the region, which is often viewed as a reliable and transparent system compared to unregulated alternatives.
