West Bengal Politics Sees Renewed Push from CPI(M)
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has expressed confidence about emerging as the principal opposition force against the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal, claiming that the All India Trinamool Congress is rapidly losing political ground. CPI(M) state secretary Mohammed Salim said the Left is already at the forefront of the ideological battle against the BJP and RSS in the state.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) has asserted that it is well-positioned to take over the opposition space in West Bengal from the All India Trinamool Congress as the party faces political challenges in the state.
CPI(M) West Bengal general secretary Mohammed Salim claimed that the Trinamool Congress was “melting down faster than ice” in the summer heat and said the Left parties must now work both “theoretically and practically” to emerge as the primary opposition to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state.
Salim stated that the CPI(M) and other Left parties are already at the forefront of confronting what he described as their ideological opponents — the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The remarks reflect the ongoing political realignment and competition among opposition parties in West Bengal, where the BJP and Trinamool Congress have dominated electoral politics in recent years while Left parties attempt to regain lost ground.
Political observers believe the CPI(M)’s renewed push indicates an effort to rebuild its organisational strength and revive its traditional voter base ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
