West Bengal Police Conduct Late-Night Firearms Raid
Police in West Bengal arrested the son of “absconding” TMC MLA Dilip Mondal along with five others for allegedly possessing firearms in the Bakkhali-Fraserganj area.
Police on Monday said they had arrested Arghya Mondal, the son of “absconding” All India Trinamool Congress MLA Dilip Mondal, along with five others for allegedly possessing firearms in the Bakkhali-Fraserganj area of West Bengal.
According to a senior police officer, the arrests were made late Sunday night during a joint operation conducted by the West Bengal Police and the Diamond Harbour district police.
Officials said the accused were allegedly found in possession of illegal firearms during the operation.
Police recovered two pistols and six mobile phones from the group, the officer added.
The arrested individuals are expected to be produced before a court as further investigation continues into the source of the weapons and possible criminal links.
Authorities have not yet disclosed additional details regarding the purpose for which the firearms were allegedly being carried.
The incident comes amid intensified law enforcement activity in different parts of West Bengal involving cases linked to alleged violence, extortion, and illegal possession of weapons.
