KOLKATA: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has sent shockwaves through the political circuit by releasing a 19-minute video titled “The Reality of HK.” The video purportedly shows a man resembling a recently suspended TMC figure and founder of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party, Humayun Kabir, negotiating a ₹1,000 crore deal with an undisclosed individual.

The TMC alleges that the conversation involves a plan to “mislead Muslim voters” and provide post-election support to the BJP in exchange for the massive payout.

While the authenticity of the video is being challenged, the TMC has demanded an immediate investigation into the “financial nexus” between breakaway leaders and the saffron camp. The opposition has dismissed the video as a “desperate deepfake” created to divert attention from the state’s incumbency issues.

The Election Commission is expected to receive a formal complaint today regarding the circulation of this content during the high-security campaign period.
