West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday stated that Bangladeshi infiltrators apprehended in the state would be directly handed over to the Border Security Force for deportation instead of being produced before courts.

Speaking to reporters after an administrative review meeting at the district magistrate’s office in Howrah, Adhikari said the new rule had come into effect from the previous day and that directions had already been issued to the police commissioner and the Railway Protection Force regarding its implementation.

According to the Chief Minister, the revised mechanism aims to streamline the deportation process by ensuring that infiltrators are transferred directly to BSF outposts located along the Bangladesh border. He stated that under the new arrangement, such individuals would no longer be routed through court proceedings before deportation.

The announcement comes amid ongoing political and administrative focus on border security and illegal infiltration in eastern India. The state government has maintained that the new process is intended to strengthen coordination between law enforcement agencies and border security authorities.

The development has drawn attention due to its implications for immigration enforcement, border management, and legal procedures concerning foreign nationals detained in the state.
