Student Groups Oppose Proposed The Bengal Files Screening on Jadavpur Campus

A proposed screening of filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files at the Jadavpur University campus on August 16 has triggered opposition from left-leaning student organisations.

The Nationalist Students’ Front (NSF), a right-wing student organisation planning to organise the screening, claimed on Thursday that it had obtained permission from the university administration for the on-campus event.

However, a university official said that the administration has not yet taken a final decision on whether permission will be granted for the screening.

The differing claims have added uncertainty over the proposed event, with the organisers maintaining that the screening has been approved while the university administration says the matter is still under consideration.
