Police have filed three cases against a 25-year-old man in connection with the killing of an aide of Suvendu Adhikari, officials said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Raj Kumar Singh, was arrested on May 11 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh in relation to the murder of Chandranath Rath in West Bengal.
According to Rasra Circle Officer Alok Gupta, two cases have been registered against Singh at the Rasra Police Station, while another case has been lodged at the Gadwar Police Station.
Officials have not yet disclosed detailed information regarding the exact charges in all three cases, but investigations are ongoing to establish the sequence of events and any possible links associated with the murder.
The killing of Chandranath Rath, who was reportedly associated with Suvendu Adhikari, had drawn significant political attention in West Bengal, prompting the involvement of central investigative agencies.
The CBI had taken over the investigation and subsequently tracked down the accused in Muzaffarnagar before carrying out the arrest operation.
