Firefighters Battle Blaze for Nearly Two Hours After Flames Engulf Building
At least five people sustained injuries after a fire broke out in a multi-storey building in the Tiljala area of Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon, according to police officials.
The incident occurred around 1:45 pm at a building located on GJ Khan Road under the jurisdiction of the Tiljala police station. Thick smoke and flames quickly spread through parts of the structure, creating panic among residents and people nearby.
Emergency response teams rushed to the spot soon after the fire was reported. Four fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze, and firefighters worked for nearly two hours before bringing the situation under control, a senior police officer said.
The injured individuals were provided medical attention, though officials have not yet disclosed the severity of their injuries. Authorities are also investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of damage caused to the building.
