Millennium Park Shut Down Amid Heightened Security for CEO Office
Access to Kolkata’s popular Millennium Park has been restricted as police issued prohibitory orders around the building housing the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
The move follows a series of violent clashes between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP supporters over Form 6 (new voter registration) submissions. In the last 12 hours, security cordons have been tightened after BLOs (Booth Level Officers) staged agitations nearby. The shutdown of the riverfront park, usually a weekend favorite, has drawn criticism from local citizens, but authorities maintain it is a necessary measure to prevent further political skirmishes in the high-security zone.
