Massive Weapons Haul Marks Key Victory in State’s Anti-Crime Drive
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has lauded the state police and Special Task Force for recovering a large cache of illegal firearms and ammunition during coordinated raids in Basanti and Sandeshkhali areas. The operation is being seen as a significant step in the government’s campaign against crime, political violence, and illegal weapons networks.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has commended the efforts of the West Bengal Police following a major operation that led to the seizure of a substantial cache of illegal firearms and ammunition from multiple locations in the state.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the chief minister said the breakthrough was achieved based on precise intelligence inputs. Acting on the information, the Special Task Force (STF) conducted extensive raids in areas near Sarberia Bazaar in Kumrakhali, Basanti, and Sandeshkhali. During the operation, security personnel reportedly recovered a large quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition allegedly hidden to disrupt peace and public order.
Adhikari praised the prompt action and coordination among the Director General of Police, the STF team, and personnel of the Basirhat Police District. He described the operation as a significant achievement in the state’s efforts to strengthen law enforcement and dismantle criminal networks.
The chief minister also alleged that illegal arms had been stockpiled for years under the previous administration and were used to intimidate citizens and fuel political violence. He stated that the current government remains committed to restoring law and order and eliminating the circulation of illegal firearms across West Bengal.
According to Adhikari, authorities will continue efforts to identify, recover, and dismantle illegal weapons networks operating in the state. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety, curbing criminal activities, and safeguarding democratic processes.
The successful operation is expected to boost ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to crack down on organized crime and illegal arms trafficking, particularly in sensitive regions where maintaining peace and security remains a priority.
