Goods Vehicles Restricted During Bengal Election Dates
Kolkata Police on Monday announced a series of traffic restrictions and diversions across Kolkata in view of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
The regulations will remain in force on April 28, April 29 (polling day), and May 4 (counting day).
According to the notification, movement of all goods vehicles, except those engaged in election-related duties, will be restricted between 5 AM and 10 PM on polling and counting days.
Several important stretches in south and central Kolkata will witness one-way movement, diversions, or temporary closures at different times.
These include areas around Gitanjali Road, RB Connector, Alipore, Hazra and Strand Road.
Police advised commuters to plan travel in advance and follow updated traffic instructions to avoid inconvenience.
The measures aim to ensure smooth polling operations, secure movement of election personnel, and orderly traffic management.
