ED Investigates Gold Linked to Police Officer Santanu Sinha Biswas
The Enforcement Directorate has seized gold worth nearly ₹4 crore and recovered a “suspicious diary” during searches at the residence of businessman Jay S Kamdar in Kolkata as part of its ongoing probe linked to the alleged ‘Sona Pappu’ case and police officer Santanu Sinha Biswas.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized gold worth nearly ₹4 crore and recovered what officials described as a “suspicious diary” during searches conducted at the residence of businessman Jay S Kamdar in Kolkata.
Officials said the searches were carried out on Friday at Kamdar’s residence on Marquis Street in central Kolkata as part of the agency’s ongoing money laundering investigation connected to the alleged ‘Sona Pappu’ case.
Investigators are examining whether the recovered gold was purchased using funds allegedly linked to Santanu Sinha Biswas, who is reportedly close to Kamdar and is also under scrutiny in the case.
The ED is analysing documents, financial transactions and the contents of the recovered diary to establish possible financial links and identify the flow of funds connected to the alleged illegal activities.
The ‘Sona Pappu’ investigation has attracted significant attention in West Bengal due to alleged links between businessmen, law enforcement personnel and financial irregularities. The agency is expected to continue questioning suspects and tracing assets as part of its wider probe.
