Police recovered a large quantity of crude bombs from Kot village in the Birbhum district of West Bengal on Thursday, triggering heightened security measures in the area.
According to officials, the explosives were found near bamboo bushes beside a pond within the jurisdiction of the Mallarpur Police Station. Around 31 crude bombs were seized during the operation.
Following the recovery, police immediately cordoned off the area to ensure public safety and informed the bomb disposal squad for further action. Security personnel conducted a search operation in and around the location to check for additional explosives or suspicious materials.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the origin of the bombs, the individuals involved, and the intended purpose behind storing the explosives in the village area.
Incidents involving recovery of crude bombs have periodically surfaced in parts of West Bengal, often raising concerns over illegal explosive stockpiling and localised criminal or political violence. Police officials said further investigation is underway.
