BJP Signals Major Industrial Reforms in West Bengal
BJP Chief Assures Investors of ‘Fearless’ Business Climate, Signals Major Policy Reforms
West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya on Tuesday pitched for a fresh land policy aimed at accelerating industrialisation in the state and promised investors a “fearless” environment for doing business if the party comes to power.
Speaking at an interaction with members of a business chamber, Bhattacharya highlighted the BJP’s intention to bring policy reforms that could attract large-scale investments and revive industrial growth in West Bengal.
The BJP leader also hinted at the possibility of removing the Urban Land Ceiling Act, a move that could ease land acquisition and urban development for industries. In addition, he supported the introduction of contract farming, which has long been sought by several corporate houses and agribusiness companies to strengthen supply chains and agricultural investments.
Bhattacharya said the party’s stand on investment policies and land-related reforms had already been made clear, stressing that industries would receive policy support and administrative confidence under a BJP-led government.
The remarks are being seen as part of the BJP’s broader strategy to position itself as an industry-friendly alternative in West Bengal, where land acquisition and industrial policy have remained politically sensitive issues for years.
