Asansol Police Produce TMC Trade Union Leader Before Court
Raju Ahluwalia, a trade union leader associated with the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), was arrested by the Asansol South Police in connection with an alleged extortion case.
Police officials said the arrest was linked to accusations of “tolabazi” — a term commonly used in West Bengal to describe alleged extortion or illegal collection of money.
Following his arrest, Ahluwalia was taken to the Asansol District Hospital for a medical examination before being produced before a court.
Officials have not yet disclosed detailed information regarding the specific allegations or the amount allegedly involved in the case.
The arrest has intensified political tensions in the industrial belt of Asansol amid ongoing investigations into multiple cases involving allegations of extortion and illegal activities in the region.
The development comes at a time when authorities in West Bengal have been conducting investigations into several complaints related to violence, land grabbing, and extortion following recent political changes in the state.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
