Tourists, Residents Urged to Exercise Caution as Uttarakhand Faces Rain Alert
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of Uttarakhand over the next 48 hours. Orange alerts have been issued for Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Chamoli, while several other districts remain under yellow alerts.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts of Uttarakhand over the next 48 hours. An Orange Alert has been issued for Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Chamoli today due to the possibility of intense rainfall.
A Yellow Alert has been issued for Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Nainital and Champawat, where heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places. Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar have also been placed under a yellow alert because of the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning.
In view of the forecast, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman has directed concerned district authorities to remain on round-the-clock alert. Departments have been instructed to keep essential resources and equipment ready and to take immediate steps to clear roads if weather-related disruptions occur.
Mr Suman has also appealed to residents and tourists to exercise caution and follow safety advisories in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
