The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for thundersquall conditions in several parts of the country, warning residents and authorities to remain cautious amid the likelihood of severe weather events through Tuesday.

According to the weather agency, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are expected to experience thundersqualls accompanied by strong winds and adverse weather conditions until tomorrow.

The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall over parts of southern India, including Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on Tuesday. These regions may witness intense rain spells that could lead to localized waterlogging and disruptions in transportation.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and the Sub-Himalayan regions of West Bengal and Sikkim through Tuesday. Similar weather conditions are also expected across Konkan and Goa, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, Saurashtra and Kutch, Telangana, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The weather department further indicated that thunderstorms and lightning activity may affect Coastal Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, and South Interior Karnataka tomorrow.

In addition to storm-related alerts, the IMD has predicted hot and humid weather conditions over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next two days. The combination of high temperatures and humidity could increase discomfort levels and pose health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups.
