Several States on Weather Alert as IMD Forecasts Widespread Rain

The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Rajasthan and Odisha, while thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are expected across several regions. More intense weather conditions are forecast over the next few days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall over Rajasthan and Odisha on Saturday, as several parts of the country remain under the influence of active monsoon weather systems.

The weather department has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Lakshadweep, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is also expected across various parts of the country during the next two to three days.

Over the next two days, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Rajasthan are likely to receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning. Similar weather conditions are expected across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim.

The IMD has further forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh until August 10. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh is expected to experience strong surface winds over the next three days. In the Delhi-NCR region, the department has predicted light to moderate rainfall with generally cloudy skies throughout the day.
