IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Northeast, Thunderstorm Warning Across India
Hot and humid conditions likely in coastal regions; multiple states under weather watch
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the Northeast, including Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
Heavy rainfall is also expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Nagaland, along with southern regions such as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe.
The weather agency has further warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in multiple regions, including Jammu and Kashmir, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, coastal areas such as Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu are likely to experience hot and humid conditions, adding to weather-related discomfort.
Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to remain cautious, especially in regions prone to flooding, lightning strikes, and strong winds.
