Heavy Rainfall Forecast for Northeast India and Southern States
The India Meteorological Department has warned that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions will persist across several parts of central and northwest India over the next two to three days, with red alerts issued for parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over central and northwest India during the next two to three days.
The weather agency has issued a red alert for severe heatwave conditions in parts of Madhya Pradesh and the Vidarbha region for tomorrow.
Heatwave conditions are also expected in Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.
The IMD has also predicted hot and humid weather over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next two days, while warm night conditions are expected over Odisha.
Additionally, dust storms are likely over Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh tomorrow.
The weather department further forecast heavy rainfall in parts of northeast India, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms are expected over Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand over the next two days.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and south interior Karnataka tomorrow.
For Delhi, the IMD has forecast maximum temperatures between 42 and 44 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to remain around 27 to 29 degrees Celsius.
Authorities have advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, remain hydrated and follow safety advisories issued by local administrations.
