Flood Crisis Persists in Assam, Over 1.37 Lakh People Affected

The flood situation in Assam remained critical on Sunday after two more people died in floodwaters, taking the death toll in this year’s floods to 100. More than 1.37 lakh people across seven districts continue to be affected.

The flood situation in Assam remained critical on Sunday, with two more people losing their lives during the past 24 hours. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the latest fatalities have taken the death toll from this year’s floods to 100.

One person each reportedly drowned in floodwaters in Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts during the last 24 hours, according to the official bulletin.

Despite some fluctuations in the affected areas, the floods continue to impact a large number of people across the state. More than 1,37,500 people are currently affected in Charaideo, Darrang, Golaghat, Jorhat, Karbi Anglong, Nagaon and Sivasagar districts.

Authorities continue to monitor the flood situation and undertake necessary relief and disaster-management measures in the affected districts.
