All Bengali films will now be insured as part of a new set of safety measures adopted by stakeholders of the entertainment industry in Tollygunge following recent incidents, including the death of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting attended by senior office-bearers of the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association and the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum.

The meeting was convened to review safety protocols on film sets and to draft a new standard operating procedure for the Bengali film industry.

Among those present were EIMPA president Piya Sengupta, chairman Ritabrata Bhattacharya, and producers Rana Sarkar and Pradip Nandy.

Producer Shrikant Mohta joined the discussions virtually.
