Hollywood actor Idris Elba has clarified that he was never officially being considered to play the iconic role of James Bond, putting an end to years of fan speculation surrounding the popular spy franchise.

In an interview with entertainment magazine People, Elba said, “Honestly not in the race ever… My name’s not getting thrown out, no way.”

The actor also indicated that the makers of the James Bond franchise are likely looking for a younger actor to take over the role following the departure of Daniel Craig, who last portrayed Bond in No Time to Die.

“They’re going younger. And I wish them all the luck of the world. I can’t wait — it’s going to be amazing,” Elba added.

For years, Idris Elba had frequently been mentioned by fans and media as a potential successor to Daniel Craig due to his screen presence and popularity. Discussions about his possible casting also sparked broader conversations around diversity and the future direction of the long-running spy franchise.
