Hollywood star Idris Elba has dismissed long-running speculation about him becoming the next James Bond, saying he was “honestly not in the race ever” and suggesting the franchise is now looking for a younger actor.

In an interview with entertainment magazine People, Elba said, “Honestly not in the race ever… My name’s not getting thrown out, no way.”
The actor also indicated that the makers of the James Bond franchise are likely looking for a younger actor to take over the role following the departure of Daniel Craig, who last portrayed Bond in No Time to Die.
“They’re going younger. And I wish them all the luck of the world. I can’t wait — it’s going to be amazing,” Elba added.
