BJP MLA-Actors Asked to Improve Bengali Film Industry Environment
BJP Leaders Asked to Help Ensure Transparent and Fear-Free Environment in Tollywood
Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday held a meeting with three actor-turned BJP legislators to discuss reforms and working conditions in the Bengali film industry.
According to a senior BJP leader, the meeting was attended by Rupa Ganguly, Rudranil Ghosh and Hiran Chatterjee, who were entrusted with responsibilities related to improving transparency and creating a “fear-free” environment in Tollywood.
The BJP leadership reportedly asked the legislators to take initiatives aimed at restoring fairness and openness within the Tollygunge-based film industry, which has long faced allegations of favouritism, restricted opportunities, and dominance by a small group of influential individuals.
The directive comes amid continuing political debate over the functioning of the Bengali entertainment industry and claims that certain individuals allegedly close to the previous All India Trinamool Congress regime exercised excessive control over film-related work and opportunities.
The BJP leaders are expected to engage with artists, technicians, and industry stakeholders to identify issues affecting the sector and suggest measures for structural reforms and improved professional conditions.
