Maharashtra Police Detain Two in Expanding NEET Controversy
Female Beautician Among Those Handed Over to CBI for Further Investigation
Maharashtra Police on Wednesday detained two more individuals, including a female beautician, in connection with the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, officials said.
According to authorities, the woman was detained from Pune, while the second accused, a man, was picked up from Ahilyanagar.
Following preliminary questioning, both suspects were handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation for further interrogation and investigation into the examination leak case.
The latest detentions come a day after Shubham Khairnar was detained in Nashik district over his alleged involvement in the paper leak network.
The CBI has intensified its nationwide investigation into the NEET-UG controversy after the examination was cancelled due to allegations of paper leaks and large-scale irregularities. Multiple arrests, raids, and interrogations have already been conducted across different states as investigators attempt to uncover the full scope of the alleged racket.
The cancellation of the examination has impacted more than 22 lakh medical aspirants and triggered widespread protests, political criticism, and legal challenges demanding reforms in the examination system.
