The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2026 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from May 11 to May 31, 2026.

The examination will be held at centres across India as well as in 15 cities outside the country, providing access to candidates applying for undergraduate admissions in participating universities.

Alongside the examination schedule, the NTA has also issued detailed instructions regarding permitted clothing and religious articles for candidates appearing in the exam.

According to the agency, candidates are allowed to wear articles or objects of faith, provided they report to the examination centre sufficiently early to complete additional frisking and security procedures.

The agency specifically clarified that religious threads such as “kalava” are permitted inside examination centres.

NTA has advised candidates to preferably wear light-coloured clothing to simplify security checks. However, candidates requiring woollen garments due to weather conditions will also be permitted entry, subject to arriving early for frisking procedures.

The guidelines are aimed at ensuring smooth security arrangements while respecting religious practices and maintaining fairness and transparency during the examination process.

CUET-UG has emerged as one of India’s largest undergraduate entrance examinations, serving as a common admission platform for central universities and several other higher educational institutions across the country.
