Six Burglars Arrested in Delhi, Worth ₹9 Lakh Recovered
Police in South-East Delhi have arrested six burglars and recovered 20 stolen e-rickshaw batteries worth nearly ₹9 lakh, along with the vehicle used in the crime. The theft took place at a battery charging station in Peer Baba Basti, Jaitpur, where the accused allegedly broke the locks during the night and stole all the batteries belonging to station owner Yashpal Singh.
A case was registered at Jaitpur Police Station on April 8, following which a special police team launched an investigation. Officers examined footage from more than 120 CCTV cameras and traced the suspects’ escape routes before conducting targeted raids in Delhi and Loni in Uttar Pradesh.
The six accused were arrested on Thursday and reportedly confessed during questioning that they planned to sell the batteries for quick money. Police said all stolen batteries and the e-rickshaw used in transporting the goods have been recovered.
