Indore Police Probe Two Separate Sexual Assault Cases, FIRs Registered
Police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, are investigating two separate sexual assault cases after FIRs were registered in both incidents, Superintendent of Police Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia said.
In the first case, SP Bhutia said police received a call on April 14 at around 2:45 PM through the emergency helpline. Preliminary investigation revealed that two unidentified men allegedly assaulted a man and a woman and raped the woman while the pair were returning after visiting a temple. Based on the victims’ statements, police have identified two suspects, and further investigation is underway.
In the second case, police are probing an alleged rape followed by the victim’s suicide. According to SP Bhutia, a woman was alone at home when a relative of her husband allegedly entered the house and raped her before leaving. The woman later consumed Celphos on April 8 and died in hospital. Although the incident occurred on April 2, police received information from the hospital only on April 14.
During the investigation, police recovered videos and written notes from the victim in which she named the accused. An FIR has been registered, and further legal action is in progress.
