The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive against alleged illegal constructions at properties linked to Matin Patel.

Officials said the action targeted Patel’s residence and other associated properties after he was booked for allegedly harbouring Nida Khan.

Khan was arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on May 7. According to police, the accused had been provided shelter by Patel, a leader associated with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

Municipal authorities stated that the structures demolished during the operation were allegedly unauthorised constructions violating civic regulations. Heavy security arrangements were deployed in the area during the demolition drive to prevent any law and order issues.

The case has attracted political attention in Maharashtra, with investigations continuing into the circumstances surrounding Khan’s stay in the city and the alleged role of those accused of assisting her.
