Four Maoists Killed in Encounter with Security Forces in Jharkhand
Four Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Piparwar-Keredari border area of Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district during a joint anti-insurgency operation today. Among those killed was Maoist sub-zonal commander Sahdev Mahto, who carried a bounty of ₹15 lakh.
The operation was carried out jointly by the CoBRA Battalion and district police. Security personnel also recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and Maoist materials from the encounter site.
Chatra Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Agrawal said efforts are underway to identify the remaining deceased Maoists. Following the gunfight, forces have cordoned off the area and launched intensive search and combing operations in nearby forest and hilly terrain to trace other insurgents and eliminate extremist presence.
