Accused in Delhi Case Also Faced Rape Charges in Alwar, Say Police
A major breakthrough has been made in the rape and murder case of a 22-year-old woman, daughter of a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, in Delhi, with police arresting the accused, identified as Rahul Meena, a former domestic help of the family.
Addressing the media, Vijay Kumar said police received information around 8:45 AM from the victim’s parents after they returned home from the gym and found their daughter unconscious. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
According to the police, suspicion immediately fell on Rahul Meena, who had been dismissed by the family around one and a half months ago following repeated complaints of borrowing money. Investigators said CCTV footage showed the accused entering the colony around 6:30 AM, entering the house at 6:39 AM, and leaving at 7:20 AM.
Police teams tracked and arrested the accused from an OYO hotel in the Dwarka area. Officials stated that strong evidence has been collected and a robust case will be presented in court to seek the harshest possible punishment.
Investigators further revealed that the accused allegedly stole around ₹2 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh from the house. Police said recoveries have been made, though details will be disclosed later.
Authorities also stated that the accused was booked in a rape case in Alwar a day earlier, where he allegedly committed a similar offence. In the Delhi case, police have invoked charges related to rape, murder, and robbery.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the victim were taken for last rites earlier in the day.
