217 Deaths Reported in Manipur Violence Since 2023
A total of 58,821 people have been displaced due to ethnic violence in Manipur between May 3, 2023 and March 30 this year, according to data shared by the state government.
The figures were provided by the Home Department Secretariat on April 20 in response to an RTI application filed by Hareshwar Goshwami.
On casualties linked to the violence since May 2023, the department stated that 217 deaths have been recorded based on ex-gratia payments made to the next of kin of victims.
The figures underline the continuing humanitarian impact of the prolonged unrest in the state
