External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has reaffirmed India’s commitment to ensuring safe and uninterrupted maritime shipping amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, stating that attacks on merchant vessels are “completely unacceptable.”

He made the remarks during the ‘AZEC Plus’ online meeting convened by Japan to discuss disruptions in global energy supply chains caused by the regional crisis.

The Ministry of External Affairs also said India continues active diplomatic engagement over the West Asia situation. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, during an inter-ministerial briefing, noted that India remains closely involved in consultations, including discussions following the recent phone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding developments in the region.
