The Delhi government is exploring clean energy generation through floating solar plants on water bodies and drains, with a pilot project set to be launched in Bawana. Under the initiative, two artificial ponds at the Bawana power plant will be used to install floating solar platforms capable of generating around 2 megawatts of electricity.

Floating solar plants use movable platforms fitted with photovoltaic panels placed on water surfaces to convert sunlight into clean energy.

Officials say the project is aimed at expanding renewable energy capacity while making efficient use of available water resources in urban areas.
