The Central Government has approved the request of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to restart government wheat procurement in the national capital through the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

The move marks the resumption of wheat procurement in Delhi after a gap since the 2021-22 season.

Gupta thanked the Centre for the decision, saying it reflects a strong commitment to farmer welfare and income security. She added that coordinated efforts between the Union Government and Delhi administration would help farmers receive fair value for their produce and strengthen their economic position.

According to the Chief Minister, the initiative is expected to directly benefit around 21,000 farmers in Delhi.
